That being said, my iPad with the M1 chip zips right along with fairly heavy use. I am currently limping along with a lemon of an HP laptop with the same RAM and hard drive space (SSD), and a dedicated GPU, so I'm worried I won't see enough of a bump in performance. I'd like more RAM, but they don't have the new ones with more than 16GB. So I will have quite a bit connected to the device.

I also do light video editing (primarily Adobe Premiere Rush).ģ) I need to run at least two external hard drives continuously (one with my LR catalog and one with my photos and other files), and a third when I'm backing up files.Ĥ) I'd like to run dual monitors with separate displays.ĥ) I'll also have wireless keyboard/mouse, plus a graphic tablet that will be connected at times. Not all at once, but I always have LR open and will export photos to one or maybe two of the above for further editing. I do have an IPad, but that's the only Apple product I've ever owned.Ģ) I need to be able to run Lightroom, Photoshop, Luminar AI, Topaz products, DxO, Aurora HDR, easyHDR, Affinity Photo, and ON1 Photo RAW.

I'm looking at one of the new ones with the M1 chip, with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD.ġ) I'm coming from a Windows (and Android) paradigm. Before I invest, I want to make sure this is a reasonable purchase. I'm considering purchasing a Mac Mini for photo editing.
